Future updates

TL;DR Many bugs that are in the Game Jam version of RRR will be fixed in 1.5.

During the post-submission playtesting of this project, a lot of bugs came up. With the large scope and small window to develop, little playtesting was done. Many bugs are due to either not testing a particular event (I didn't want to spend development time with developer tools, like forcing a die outcome), or misunderstandings of Fusion 2.5 elements (There are supposed to be images on the title screen and credits, not realizing they won't load if the file isn't included). So, here's what will be fixed in 1.5:

  1. Title screen is barren
  2. Title screen and credits buttons don't scale correctly
  3. GMTK Game Jam logo doesn't appear anywhere
  4. Smoke cloud effect doesn't function properly
  5. Orcs have very poor vision of players near walls
  6. Orc statues are 4X larger than the orc frozen
  7. Score isn't shown to the player during gameplay
  8. Credits doesn't list the engine used (which is legally required for publishing)
  9. The bear trap doesn't do anything

More updates will come out after 1.5, and will include fixes for these more complicated issues.

  1. Dice can be thrown inside walls, and in the seam between two walls
  2. Particles don't work correctly
  3. The player can see as far as their mouse goes, limited only by their monitor resolution and size of the window.

All of these bugs will be fixed in future updates. I also plan to add quality-of-life and communication updates in proceeding updates, including

  1. More clarity on die results
  2. More clarity on orc behavior
  3. More sound effects
  4. The removal of straw patches, which serve no purpose and cause confusion
  5. The game won't tell you you earned 0 points if you jump to the credits from the main menu.
  6. Credits will scroll, showing more than what can fit on the screen (and it looks nice)
  7. More of Captain Demozan's art (Mine is...functional. Mostly quick drawings and filters upon filters)
  8. Variety in level design (procedural generation?)

Most bugs are a result of misunderstanding Clickteam Fusion 2.5  objects and their properties. This, along with a large scope and lack of playtesting, are how these ended up in the Jam version. But I really like the core idea of this project, and hope to bring it up to par to something fun to play, or even replay.
